Origins of the All Season VFP Vest
I had been suggesting logo'd umbrellas since Seattle weather was undoing our T shirt's logo appearances in many cases each season. But more persistant minds were at work on that problem. Recently (Aug'07) I asked Dorli about the inventing moment for the vests [what were first called 'pennies'], and she wrote back:
"As far as I can remember I brought up the fact that we don't look much like an organized bunch if we don't show our T shirts or something in the demonstration. So we kicked around whether we should have sweatshirts, or hats or what. I am not sure who thought of pennies, but Mike [Yanasak] was instrumental in getting the first ones made (the ones that turned pink when washed)." And shortly after that conversation (Spring '05?) we had pennies -or vests- to go over anything we needed them to, including of a kind that kept their colors well. -CP
